Summer Coaching Groups:
Frequently Asked Questions
What are the benefits of participating in a coaching group?
Ministry can often be a lonely place. Participating in a group with people who have gone through similar experiences or have similar goals as you can create instant community that can goes beyond the coaching group. It is also an opportunity to bounce ideas off one another and learn from one another. Coaching groups also make the cost of sessions more affordable by sharing the costs of hours the coach puts in to create tools, resources, and activities to help you with your goals.
Will I get what I need out of coaching if I have to share sessions with other people?
Absolutely! Feasting Table LLC is determined to make sure that we are able to move all our clients forward in some kind of way. Our coach is careful to make sure clients share the group space and also that the group taps into exactly what you need for your specific context. If at any time you don’t feel like you’re getting what you need to reach your personal goals, communicate with your coach and they will adjust to make sure your goals are given the attention you desire.
It’s summer - I have vacation/a conference/continuing education already scheduled during a session. Should I still sign up?
Feasting Table LLC is a place where we understand the busy schedules of ministry leaders! We also think it’s so important to make space for vacation. Thanks to technology there a couple of options to make sure you get everything you paid for even if you are unable to make every session. There will be a place in the registration form to inform your coach of prior commitments that conflict with any sessions.
I noticed the cost for summer group sessions is more expensive than buying a coaching package or sessions for an individual. Why should I register for a coaching group when it would be more affordable to buy my own sessions?
During individual coaching sessions, the time a coach spends on a client and their personal goals is mostly limited to the in-person time you have in sessions. During our summer coaching groups the coach will be working outside of sessions to create tools and adapt activities to propel each individual forward toward their goals. Group coaching actually saves a client money by sharing the cost of the in-person hours with other clients. If someone were to want to do the same program as an individual, the cost of the program would be greater.
I want to sign up for a coaching group like “Healing From Harm” or “Navigating Toxicity in Your Workplace," and I want to use my professional expenses for it. I hesitate signing up though because I don’t want my current context to see the topic of my coaching sessions!
No worries! We do not want to cause any reason for anxiety or conflict in our clients’ current context and our clients’ privacy is very important to us. During the registration process for coaching programs there is a place where you can opt-in to receiving an invoice with a general statement that you’re receiving ministry coaching rather than the specific topic being on the invoice. Be sure to use a personal email for registration if you’re afraid of your email being monitored though, because the group name will most likely be in email communication at some point.
It’s really important that what I say in our coaching sessions remain private. How can I trust that will happen during group sessions?
Part of the initial conversation with clients participating in group sessions will be discussing the importance of keeping everything said in the group confidential unless otherwise stated by the client who shares the information about their context. We will do an exercise as a group where we state together what’s appropriate or not to share outside of the group (Hint: It’s not appropriate to share unless you’re sharing your own experiences)!
In addition, each client will be required to sign a covenant about the coaching relationship - keeping confidentiality is a big part of that covenant. If you still have concerns about this at any time, speak to your coach and they will be glad to make sure you feel like you have ample space to tackle your goals even in the most sensitive contexts.
**Please note that your coach is a mandatory reporter due to their denomination of ordination. If there’s an instance where someone is being harmed or being harmful to others, the proper authorities will be contacted. More detail about this will be stated in the client/coach covenant that is required to be signed at the beginning of the coaching relationship.
I have social anxiety/really don’t like other people so I want to do the program, but don’t want to be with other people. Can I sign up to have individual coaching?
All the Summer Group Programs are well thought-out programs with a lot of moving parts behind the scenes. The cost of the group programs are shared with multiple clients, making the cost of coaching more affordable. It is possible to do a program as an individual, but the cost will increase signifcantly. Still think it’s worth it? Contact us to find out more information on the cost of the summer coaching program you’re interested in.
